Love is in the air…and in the office
« on: May 13, 2009, 03:34:19 PM »
Office courtships may be stemming from current workplace crushes. Ten percent of workers currently work with someone who they would like to date, with more men (14 percent) than women (5 percent) reporting they would like to do so.

Workers aren’t just interested in dating their peers. Among workers who dated a co-worker in the last year, thirty-four percent admit they have dated someone with a higher position in their company. Of those who have dated a higher up in the last year, 42 percent have dated their boss; female workers more so than males, at 47 percent and 38 percent, respectively.

Twelve percent of workers reported that their relationships started when they ran into each other outside of work. Some other situations where office romances found their spark included:

    * Working late at the office (11 percent)
    * Happy hour (10 percent)
    * Lunch (10 percent)

Workers provided the following top five examples of the most romantic things they have done in the office:

1.) Had a drink together up on the roof.
2.) Danced to the elevator music in the hallway.
3.) Ate a late night picnic with candles after everyone had left.
4.) After a meeting, picked up my girlfriend in a limo and proposed to her.
5.) Left each other love post-it notes.

this thread caught my attention for it talked about love,*hehehe*  :D

Anyway, let me share some tips on dating colleagues. I stumbled upon this article online and thought I might share this with you. Hope this helps:

1. Leave your lovey-dovey @home.
      Bosses tend to frown upon workmate relationships, not because they're heartless tyrants, but because your flirting can embarrass and irritate your colleagues. It also distracts you from the job you're paid to do

2. Keep your rows out of the office
      Tension between you will distract you from your work and annoy your workmates. If you're going through a rocky patch, make an extra effort to stay focused on your job.

3.  Don't try to hide it
      There's no point trying to keep a work romance under wraps. Someone's bound to suss you out, and the rumors will soon start to spread. Better to be out in the open. But be prepared to re-think the relationship or your job if your boss objects.

4. Beware of email monitoring
      Many companies keep tabs on emails and phone calls. Yes it's an invasion of your privacy, but it's a fact of life in most workplaces. They pay your wages; they've got you by the htmls.

5. Get some personal space
      Constant togetherness sounds like heaven when you first get together, but give it a few months (well, days) and you'll be desperate for space.
